Dr. Rich Bernato tackles the new law relating to Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) with Dr. Harriet Copel, Superintendent of Shoreham Wading River School District; Dr. Lorna Lewis, Superintendent of East Williston Union Free School District; and Dr. Kristen Turnow, Administrative Coordinator, Eastern Suffolk BOCES Student Data Service. In part 1 of the interview, the group discusses the genesis of this new law and its relationship to Race to the Top funding as well as the impact it has for classroom teachers. They go over the time line for the evaluations and questions they still have on how standards and measures will be applied.
