Dr. Stephanie Tatum, Associate Professor of Educational Administration, Leadership and Technology, speaks with Dr. James Brown about his recently completed dissertation, A Case Study of High-Achieving Black Male Students and Their Perceptions of the Causes for the Black-White Test Score Gap in a Long Island Middle School.They discuss the importance of motivation, engagement, parental support, and teacher relationships to black male achievement. They also cover ways school administrators can work towards creating schools that are conducive to high achievement.
