QR codes
A QR code (short for Quick Response) is a two-dimensional barcode that can be read by camera phones, iPods, iPads, and dedicated QR readers. When scanned it sends information to your phone, such as telephone numbers, URLs, text, etc.
QR codes in the Library
You'll start to see QR codes appearing in the library as part of displays, shelving, and in the catalog.
In the catalog, you have the option of texting call number information to yourself, but this can incur charges. A quicker way to get the information is to scan the QR code. Within the catalog, the QR code will give you the title, location, call number, and status of an item.
How do I get a QR reader?
There are a variety of QR code readers that are free. Some that you might try are:

- Scan for Apple devices
- Beetag for Blackberry
- Beetag for Apple devices
- Google also has QR code readers for different phones
