Oakdale, Long Island, situated on the Great South Bay some 45 miles east of New York City, has a unique history. Its rivers and woods were the envy of hunters and fishermen as far back as 1845, its open spaces and gentle waters were the setting of choice for the great estates of New York's well-to-do.

This online collection of digitized images documents the history of Oakdale from the turn of the last century. Drawn from the Special Collections of Dowling College, Historic Oakdale is part of the Long Island Memories Project.
