Civil War Portraits

This display marks the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War with books from the Francis Grant Schleicher Civil War Collection. Francis Grant Schleicher was a printing ink scientist and amateur historian with a keen interest in preserving first-hand accounts of the American Civil War. The Francis Grant Schleicher Civil War Collection includes many autobiographies and biographies of Civil War Generals, which are highlighted in this exhibit. What better time to reflect on these accounts than on April 12, 2011 - the 150th Anniversary of the start of the War between the States.

Shall We Dance?

Dance is integral to American culture. Just look at the popularity of dance television programs such as: "Dancing with the Stars," "So You Think You Can Dance," and "Dance in America." This display highlights books in the Dowling College Library collection and celebrates dance in all of its forms.
