Health Insurance & Immunization
Records
Health insurance is very important because of the
high cost of medical care in the United States.
Dowling College requires that all International
Students have the health insurance plan provided by the
college. You will receive detailed information about this
insurance when you arrive. The cost of this insurance will
be billed directly to your student account.
With your acceptance letter you will
receive a Certificate of Immunization form. A completed certificate
is required of all students. Please have your doctor fill out this
form before you leave or you may be required to see a doctor in the
U.S. and obtain new immunizations.
Visa & Immigration Issues
- If Dowling issued a Form I-20 for the F-1 Student Visa,
present this form to the U.S. Consulate or Embassy when applying
for your F-1 Student Visa. You will be required by the U.S.
Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) to attend the school
whose I-20 you use to enter the U.S. Do not use the I-20 form of
another school to enter the U.S. if you plan to study at Dowling
College.
- Transfer students: Students already studying in the U.S. must
follow required USCIS procedures for transferring schools. F-1
students who must transfer should present the I-20 to the
International Student Office upon arrival at Dowling for
assistance with the transfer process and should have clearance
from their previous school showing that they were in full-time
attendance during the most recent term.
You should carry
all important documents with you at all times in case you have
baggage delays or other problems. Be careful with your belongings as
you travel.
