Financial Aid for Undergraduate Students - Designated and Endowed Scholarships

The Racanelli Family Presidential Scholars Program

The Racanelli Scholars Program is funded from endowment established by the children of Nicholas and Constance Racanelli to provide an annual scholarship to qualified full-time undergraduate students in each of the following categories:

  1. Racanelli Scholars for First Time Entering Freshman:

    Eligibility for the Racanelli Scholars Freshman tuition and fee scholarship is based upon demonstrated academic achievement and financial need. Candidates must have a combined SAT score of 1300 or better (ACT score of 30 or better); graduated from high school in the top 10 percent of the class; filed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid; completed all application procedures for Federal and State Financial Aid Programs; and completed all admission procedures. In determining the recipient, priority will be given to applicants having the following high school sequences: English (4 years); Foreign Language (3 years); Social Studies (3 years); Mathematics (3 years); and Natural Sciences (3 years). The recipient may be eligible for renewal of this scholarship for the following year upon reapplication to Enrollment Services. Eligibility for reapplication is based upon completion of 30 credits in the academic year (September-May) with a 3.5 or better cumulative grade point average and documented participation in the mentorship responsibilities associated with the Racanelli Scholars Program.

  2. Racanelli Scholars for Entering Sophomores:

    Eligibility for the Racanelli Scholars Sophomore tuition and fee scholarship is based upon demonstrated academic achievement and financial need. Candidates must have completed a minimum of 30 credits at an accredited two or four year college or university with a scholastic grade average of 3.6 (4.0 grading scale) or better, filed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, and completed all application procedures for admission and financial aid as required by Dowling College. In determining the recipient, priority will be given applicants having completed course work in each of the following areas of study described in the Dowling College Catalog: Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, and Arts. The recipient may be eligible for renewal of this scholarship for the following year upon reapplication to Enrollment Services. Eligibility for reapplication is based upon completion of a minimum of 30 credits in the academic year (September-May) with a 3.5 or better cumulative grade average and documented participation in the mentorship responsibilities associated with the Racanelli Scholars Program.

  3. Racanelli Scholars for Entering Juniors:

    Eligibility for the Racanelli Scholars Junior tuition and fee scholarship is based upon demonstrated academic achievement and financial need. Candidates must have completed a minimum of 60 credits at an accredited two or four year college or university with a scholastic grade average of 3.6 (4.0 grading scale) or better, filed for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, and completed all application procedures for admission and financial aid as required by Dowling College. In determining the recipient, priority will be given applicants having completed course work in each of the following areas of study described in the Dowling College Catalog: Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, and Arts. The recipient may be eligible for renewal of this scholarship for the senior year upon reapplication to Enrollment Services. Eligibility for reapplication is based upon completion of a minimum of 30 credits in the Academic Year (September-May) with a 3.5 or better cumulative grade average and documented participation in the mentorship responsibilities associated with the Racanelli Scholars Program.

Racanelli Scholars Mentorship Responsibilities:

All Racanelli Scholars will be paired with entering freshmen to serve as student mentors. Mentors will attend a brief summer training program. This program will familiarize the mentor with available student support services. Mentors will serve as group leaders in the Freshman Orientation Program, will be available to meet a minimum of 45 minutes per week with the assigned freshman, serve as tour guides, and will be available for the annual meeting with the Racanelli family.
