Financial Aid for Graduate Students - Employment Programs
Employment Programs Available through Dowling College
On Campus Employment Student Employment Program
Eligibility: Not based on need.
Amount: Students earn at least minimum wage and sometimes as much as $10.00 per
hour, depending on their skills and the jobs available. Students usually work 10 to 15
hours per week.
If job information is not included in your financial aid package, you may want to
check with Enrollment Services or The Center for Intellectual Capital for consideration,
or find your own job on campus after your arrival in the fall.
Earned Tuition Credit
Whether a student is participating in the College Work-Study Programs (see below) or
our institutional Student Employment Program, Dowling College allows students to have
their on-campus earnings credited directly to their accounts, reducing their tuition liability.
Employment Programs Available through the
Federal Government
College Work-Study Program (CWSP)
The College Work-Study Program is funded by the federal government and supplemented
by Dowling College monies. The program enables students to work part-time on
the College campus and at local nonprofit agencies. Graduate and undergraduate students
who demonstrate financial need may be eligible to receive monies under this federal
program. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic process. Students must
file the FAFSA for determination of eligibility.
Other Employment Opportunities
Graduate Assistantships
Assistantships are available to graduate students in both the Business
Administration and Education programs. Eligible students receive tuition remission in
exchange for services performed, calculated at the rate of one graduate credit for each
thirty hours of service rendered. Students continue to be responsible for college and
course fees. To continue eligibility, students must maintain a grade-point average of B
(3.0) and satisfactorily perform their assigned responsibilities.
Students should make their interests known to their advisor. Assistantships are
awarded only upon approval of the Provost.
