Financial Aid for Graduate Students - Endowed chairs and Recognition Grants

Endowed Chairs

Endowed Chairs enhance the quality of programs in higher education through both the recognition and contribution of the Chair holders. These are regarded as the most prestigious appointments in academe, and they honor significant scholarly or creative achievement and academic excellence. Distinguished scholars who hold these positions make significant contributions to the mission of the College.

Recognition Grants

Grants of $100 for the first semester of study at Dowling are available to students who qualify. Only one sponsorship is allowed per student.

Long Island Parent Teacher Association Recognition Grant - Members of Long Island PTA’s are eligible for a $100 tuition grant and must submit proof of membership at time of payment.

Alumni Sponsorship - Students sponsored by a Dowling College alumnus are eligible to receive this grant. Sponsorship forms are available at the Alumni Relations Office located in the Student Service Center, Racanelli Center, Room 101.

New Student Sponsorships - Students sponsored by a Dowling College employee are eligible to receive this grant. Sponsorship forms are available at the Admissions Office.

Senior Citizen Audit - Senior Citizens may audit courses (not receive credit) at Dowling for $50 per course. Registration forms are available at the Admissions Office and the Registrar’s Office.

Cooperating Teachers - Teacher Waiver
Eligibility: Cooperating teachers accepted for admission who participate in the Student Teacher Program for Dowling College students are entitled to receive a waiver equal to tuition for up to three credits. If the Cooperating Teacher does not wish to use this waiver, it may be transferred to another professional full-time employee at his/her school, a spouse or dependent child.
Application: Cooperating Teacher or other eligible recipient must submit approved Tuition Waiver Certificate” to Enrollment Services, prior to the last date of the semester in order to receive credit for this waiver.
Other Restrictions: A combination of waivers may be used not to exceed six credits per semester. Waivers must be submitted during the academic period for which the waiver is being sought. Selection of alternate employees shall be made by the Chief Administrative Officer and requires completion of the Transfer Authorization.
