Dowling College School of Aviation Civil Air Patrol Scholarship

The School of Aviation will award (3) scholarships annually to qualifying Civil Air Patrol Cadets who have chosen to pursue a flight career in civilian aviation and are matriculated in the School’s Professional Pilot Degree Program. Awards are applicable to flight training only. An $8000.00 award and (2) $4000.00 awards are available.

Eligibility
  • CAP Cadets must have received the Billy Mitchell Award.
  • CAP Senior members must have received the Billy Mitchell Award as a cadet or received the Senior Rating in Cadet Programs Specialty Track of the Senior Training Program.
  • Student must hold a cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 or greater, or a Dowling College GPA of 3.O or greater.
  • Student must matriculate full-time in the Professional Pilot Degree Program.
Application Requirements
  • Letter of intent addressed to the Director of Development for the School of Aviation. Letter should discuss why you have chosen Dowling College and how the School’s program will facilitate your career goal(s).
  • Official high school/college transcript.
  • ACT/SAT College Entrance Exam scores.
  • CAP Credentials (see Eligibility).
  • Recent photo in uniform.
  • Two letters of recommendation. One must be from a CAP affiliate.

Selection Procedure:
A School of Aviation committee will score the applications. Selections will be based upon the respective standings of applicants as established by their applications and required supporting documents.

Application Deadline: Completed scholarship applications must be postmarked by April 1st and mailed to Dowling College School of Aviation at the address listed below.
