I'm a licensed clinical psychologist, with a focus on law and psychology.
Quantitative research has included children's memory, credibility
assessment, Statement Validity Assessment, and the role of privileged
communication (confidentiality) in psychotherapy. My qualitative research
has included sexual abuse prevention. I also have publications on fair
custody evaluations with LGBT parents and the ethical dilemmas posed by
"re-orientation therapy." My clinical work has included custody evaluations
and expert testimony, traditional psychotherapy, geropsychology, and I have
also led continuing education workshops in psychology. Trained and grounded
in a cognitive-behavioral model of psychotherapy, my work with higher
functioning clients is tempered by the perspective of humanistic and
existential psychotherapy. My undergraduate teaching has included general
psychology, abnormal psychology, the origins of human nature, psychology and
film, geropsychology, tests and measurements, interpersonal adjustment, and
human sexuality, and at the graduate level, psychopathology, CBT, and
psychology and law.
