Dr. Kendell Thornton is an Assistant Professor at Dowling College. He is a Social Psychologist who earned his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas (1998). He also studied Psychology at the University of Montana (M.A. - 1989) and at the University of Idaho (B.S. - 1985). Dr. Thornton has investigated the cognitive dynamics underlying motivations and emotions related to interactions and relationships between couples. His current research interests include self-esteem, self-concept, and embarrassment within the dynamics of close relationships.
At Dowling College, Dr. Thornton regularly teaches such offerings as Introductory Psychology (Psy 001, 002), CORE (Psy 103, 104), Social Psychology (Psy 120), Interpersonal Communication (Psy 150), Experimental Psychology (Psy 171), and offerings in the Advanced Psychology Seminar series such as Interpersonal Relationships (Psy 180).
