Special Interests and/or Hobbies
Gay and Lesbian Headed Families: In the past several years I have moved away from traditional attachment research although it continues to be an interest of mine. As can be seen in the section covering publications I currently have two books published on the topic: For Lesbian Parents: Your Guide to Helping Your Family Grow Up Happy Healthy and Strong, (Guilford Press, 2001) and The Gay Baby Boom: The Psychology of Gay Parenting (New York University Press, 2002).
Fiction writing: Since 1996 I have involved with long term writing projects that focus on family relationships and identity formation, parenting, and family functioning.
As can be seen in the section covering work in progress, some of this work focuses less on
my own empirical activity and emphasizes the ability to summarize research findings in
these areas in ways that are accessible to the general public by using fiction story telling.
Work in Progress:
Johnson, S. (currently editing) Sally Anderson Here, Alive and Kicking (working title).
Book length manuscript being edited for publication examining family
relationships, life experiences, and identity formation.
Johnson, S. (in progress) Adventures in Suburbia (working title). Book length
manuscript being written currently examining parenting and family functioning in
the 1990s and beyond. (sequel to Sally Anderson Here: Alive and Kicking)
