Dowling Professor Presents at Institute for Ethics and Public Affairs

On Saturday, Dec. 6,  Professor of philosophy, Christian Perring, participated in a symposium at the Institute for Ethics and Public Affairs of Felician College.

The topic discussed was, “Psychiatric Medication: Promise or Peril? An Interdisciplinary Discussion,” and Perring’s presentation was titled, “Psychiatric Expertise and the Difficult Epistemic Position of Patients.” There were other presenters along with Professor Perring, which included Robert Whitaker, author of Anatomy of an Epidemic: Magic Bullets, Psychiatric Drugs, and the Astonishing Rise of Mental Illness in America, New York City private practice psychiatrist, Raymond Raad and Peter Economou,  Felician College psychology counselor and founder of the New Jersey Counseling and Wellness Center.
