Dowling Doctoral graduate, Denise Toscano, has been selected to join the America Achieves Educator Voice Fellowship for the 2015-2016 school year. America Achieves supports leaders who they believe have real potential to catalyze large-scale change across entire communities and states. They uncover, examine, and promote approaches and practices that can drive success across entire educational systems, communities, and states.
Their support includes:
- Offering fellowships and networks that tap and build on the creativity and expertise of some of America’s most successful and promising educators
- Disseminating tools that communicate and generate support for the high expectations all students deserve as well as the support they need to get and stay on track for success
- Through our Results for America Initiative, developing recommendations and bipartisan support for investing public funds in evidence-based solutions that can be taken to large scale
This organization is funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation to elevate educators’ voices and allow them to demonstrate their expertise and advice on important educational issues in New York.
“I am really excited for this opportunity and I hope I can make a difference in having a voice for administrators and teachers in policy and curriculum decisions,” Toscano said.
