Dowling's Student Government Association organized a recent trip to New Orleans in which students, faculty and alumni helped cleanup some of the area's most devastated neighborhoods.
Dowling students are self-governing through an elective system in which
each student has the opportunity to elect peers as representatives in
the Students' Government Association (S.G.A.). All full- and part-time
students are automatically members of the SGA and are entitled to attend
and participate in all S.G.A.-sponsored functions and activities.
The S.G.A. is comprised of three branches: the Executive Board, the Student
Senate and the Student Review Board. Officers are elected in April and
serve for a one-year term. All officers must maintain a 2.3 average to
hold any elected office or any appointed responsibility for any campus
club, committee, or organization.
Throughout the academic year, many social functions are sponsored
by various clubs and classes of the S.G.A. A sampling of some of these
annual events during the year include the Halloween Party, Holiday
Ball, and the semi-formal Spring Cotillion. Dances, trips and other
events are also sponsored throughout the year by the College's various
clubs and organizations. Following the conclusion of the spring semester,
the S.G.A. hosts an "End of the Year Party" for all undergraduates
alongside the banks of the Connetquot River which winds its way through
the College's picturesque campus.
Congratulations to the 2008-2009 Student Government Association Executive Board Members and Class Presidents!!!!!!
