This program offers a flexible Master of Science Degree in Childhood Education that includes 30 credits of course work leading to Initial NY State Certification in Grades 1 to 6. The final 9-12 credits lead to completion of the Master of Science Degree and Professional Certification. Pathways are available for additional certifications in Early Childhood Education (B-2) and Special Education. Class scheduling is flexible with the option of a fully online program or a combination of on-site, blended, or online classes. The typical schedule would begin in September and be completed the following August (three semesters). Part-time schedules are also available.

Our program emphasizes the development of current teacher competencies related to Common Core curriculum in Mathematics and Science Education. This program is aligned with Dowling College and eleven School District Professional Development Academies, where Graduate students work closely with expert teachers and administrators to ensure they develop the skills and competences necessary to succeed in the Teaching Profession.

* In addition to course registration, students are required to register with the Director of Student Teaching Placements and Certification for student teaching.  A G.P.A. of 3.0 is required for placement in field experiences or student teaching. Field placement will be at the discretion of the Director of Student Teaching Placements and Certification.
