Supramolecular Self-Assembly
Chemistry Scholar Juan Alicea is conducting research in nanoscale self-assembly with Dr. S. Russell Seidel at Dowling College. His work focuses on extremely large polymers that not only build themselves in a predictable manner, but also self-resolve when crystallizing into colorful zones, giving a candy-cane-like effect. Such polymers are on the cutting edge of self-assembly and have potential applications in solid state chemistry & materials science. Juan will be presenting his results with Dr. Seidel at the 229th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in San Diego in March.
