Internship Program

A Dowling College internship is an educational opportunity which integrates college coursework with professional experience in public and private sectors. Once you complete your degree requirements, you will enter into a very competitive job market. The practical, real-life experience acquired during an internship can give you a competitive edge and the necessary job skills to complement your education.

Internship candidates are currently registered Dowling College students who have typically completed two years of liberal arts requirements and field-related coursework, providing them with the fundamental skills necessary to take on applied work in an organization.

Students who participate in the program typically register for 3 academic credits upon placement and complete a minimum of 10-15 hours a week (depending on whether the experience is paid/non-paid) over an approximate 12 week period. However, an internship can be tailored to meet specific requirements and student needs.

The Dowling College Career Services Center of Student Services is a partner of the New York State Department of Labor "Student Internship Opportunities Initiative."
