Alumni Council Food and Wine Connoisseur Event

Tastes and tales of France filled the evening of October 10th, at the second annual Alumni Council Food and Wine Connoisseur Event. Peter Lessing C.E.C., C.C.A., Culinary Director of Lessing's, and Sean Raymond, Long Island Wine Director of Southern Wine Company, hosted the evening of French wine and cuisine in the Hunt Room of Fortunoff Hall. Lessing and Raymond shared their knowledge of various French regions' food and wine specialties with Dowling alumni and other supporters. Lessing, American Culinary Federation Chef of the Year for 2006, created a delectable five-course menu for the evening, which was paired with wines chosen by Raymond. The highlight of the meal was the New Style Steak Bordelais with Marrow and Porcini Crust accompanied by a glass of Chateau Tour Segur St. Emillion. The meal ended on a sweet note with Apple Tart Tatin with Fresh Cream and Caramel paired with George DuBoeuf Muscat Beaumes de Venise. Lessing's was the main sponsor for the evening, enabling this event to be a success. Graphic Impressions of Islip and Dowling College Trustee Gerald Curtin also contributed to the event. Over $1,000 was raised for the Alumni Council to help with the Alumni Scholarship Fund. The Alumni Council is committed to organizing events for Dowling Alumni that connect them to the college and provide an enjoyable experience. We hope you will join us next fall at this annual event!
