Dowling College Emergency Notification

As part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of the campus community, Dowling College is deploying an emergency alert system. Its purpose is to notify people affiliated with Dowling about security- and safety-related emergencies. We will use the system ONLY for emergency communication, not for general information or advertisements.

Here are some key points about our Emergency Alert System:
  • The system is open to all Dowling students, employees, and their family members. You will need to supply a Student or Staff ID Number (NOT a Social Security Number) and birth date.
  • You may request notification by phone or by SMS text message.
  • You may register up to three phone or SMS numbers to receive emergency notifications. For example, you may register your parents' or other relatives' phones (though we urge you to ask their permission first).
  • When you leave the College (graduate, transfer, discontinue taking classes, resign) we will stop sending alerts to all the phone numbers associated with your ID Number.
  • To stop receiving alerts, go to the Remove form here. This will remove all phone numbers associated with your ID number.
  • To change phone numbers or type of notification, first use the Remove form to stop all alerts, then come back to this page and register the numbers you want.
By completing the form below you acknowledge that we have made you aware of the following:
  • There is no charge by Dowling for this service, but your phone or SMS service provider may charge you for the airtime used for receiving these messages.
  • We will send a test message once per semester to ensure the reliability of the alert service.
  • The information we collect here will only be shared with the alert system provider, who has committed, in turn, never to reveal your information to anyone else.
  • By registering your number, you understand that we cannot guarantee that you will receive each and every message, due to factors that are beyond the College's control (e.g., cell service, phone being on, etc.).
If you have difficulty with our online forms, you may send an email to AlertService with your Student or Staff ID Number, your name, and the phone number(s) at which you wish to receive emergency alerts.
