Dowling College School of Education graduates are shaping many young minds here on Long Island and throughout the world. In fact, approximately 5,000 teachers working on Long Island have received their teaching certification through Dowling College, and today they are educating the next generation of Long Island’s leaders. Dowling College ranks within the top 10 percent of New York State colleges in the number of teachers achieving New York State Certification.

Dowling’s School of Education faculty is among the most accomplished in the nation. Our expertise in special education and literacy, among other areas, has distinguished Dowling as the region’s premier teacher of teachers. With unmatched success in placing student teachers in the field, Dowling College boasts a remarkable track record placing graduates in full-time tenure-track positions in the area’s top school districts. The School of Education has nine Professional Development Acadmies providing extensive student teacher development in some of the largest and most diverse school districts within Long Island.
