Assessment at Dowling College


Welcome to Dowling College's Assessment and Research Committee's (AARC) website.

The Academic Assessment and Research Committee (AARC) members assist the Schools, Divisions and Departments in the assessment of student learning outcomes and in the review of an on-going program level assessment plan.

The college actively engages in the assessment of departments and programs and the core curriculum in an effort to improve student learning.

By evaluating where there may be gaps in learning, our faculty members ensure that the knowledge and skills expected of our graduates in our core curriculum and programs are met.

In particular the AARC:
  • Provides assistance to faculty in developing assessment measures;


  • Reviews annual program assessment reports submitted by departments and programs;


  • Assesses the general education core.
