The Anthony Giordano Gallery

Exhibition Calendar 2014-2015

Mission

The Anthony Giordano Gallery maintains its reputation as a premier exhibition space and cultural institution on Long Island. By advancing creative thinking and bringing a diversity of artists, individuals and communities together from a wide range of disciplines and geographies, the Anthony Giordano Gallery serves as a catalyst for the unexpected, the innovative and the spectacular.

The Gallery hosts five exhibitions per academic year that are dedicated to promoting contemporary, innovative, and experimental work by established, unaffiliated and emerging artists. Gallery exhibitions emphasize contemporary culture, social and political issues and historic ideas and concerns as they impact and relate to the art world. Through its exhibitions and educational programs/outreach, the Gallery reflects, reinforces and complements the academic and curricular dimensions of Visual Arts, Art History and Criticism, the Dowling College community, the General Public, and the Oakdale community at large. Exhibitions range from project/theme-driven group exhibitions to performances and one-person installations, as well as painting, sculpture, drawings, prints and illustrated books, photography, architecture and design, film and video. In addition to curatorial projects the Gallery features exhibitions by Dowling Visual Art Students, Faculty and Alumni. Additionally, with the New York State Art Teachers Association we sponsor and show annually The Portfolio Project, which highlights the finest work by Long Island art students.
