Thomas J. Doherty
A Dowling College graduate, Thomas J. Doherty serves as Vice President, Eastern Region Domestic Ground Operations. Mr. Doherty joined FedEx as a Dispatcher in 1981. He subsequently ascended the ranks at the Fortune 500 company, becoming Senior Manager, Ramp Operations in 1991, and Managing Director, Eastern Region Sort Operations in 1995. In 1997 Tom Doherty was promoted to an
Officer in the Air Freight Ground Systems of FedEx. In 1999 he was
once again promoted to VP of the MEM World Hub. In 2004 he was
transferred to the Eastern Region as VP of Ground Operations, where he
is currently assigned.
Born in Cambridge, MA, Doherty served in the U.S. Navy for three years. He earned a B.S. from Dowling College in 2000, and a Certificate of Logistics, Transportation, and Physical Distribution, Northeastern University in 1992.
He is a
four time winner of the Federal Express Five Star Award, the most
prestigious award for Service and Leadership at FedEx in 2002, 1999, 1996, and 1994. He was the 1992 Federal Express Circle of Excellence
Winner, and the Federal Express Manager of the Year Award recipient, Bostonian District in 1988. Doherty has served on Dowling's Board of Directors
since 2001.
Tom is married to his lovely wife Nancy and is the proud father of four:
Kelly, Erin, Mike and Tara. The family presently lives in Long Valley,
NJ.
