- Assistant Biology Professor/Instructor
DEPARTMENT
Biology
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Dowling College Department of Biology invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Microbial Ecology at the rank of Assistant Professor/Instructor with a start date of Fall 2012. The position is subject to budgetary approval. The faculty member will be responsible for helping develop the newly created Masters Program in Environmental Microbiology and also teaching undergraduate courses in Biology and Natural Science. Development of an extramurally funded research program involving undergraduate and graduate students is expected.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Ph.D. plus post-doctoral or equivalent experience is required. Candidates without post-doctoral experience will be considered at an Instructor level. While we seek candidates whose work will complement the overall strengths of the Science and Mathematics Division, all outstanding candidates with expertise in Microbial Ecology are encouraged to apply. Dowling College is also inviting applications from qualified individuals to teach at the adjunct level. The subjects to be taught include Developmental Biology, Biochemistry, and Human Anatomy.

- Adjunct Faculty - School of Education
Dowling College's Sport Management and Physical Education Program invite Adjunct Faculty applicants for courses beginning fall 2010. Instructional experience with K-12 students in a public education setting. A Masters in Physical Education is required. A Doctorate is preferred. Pedagogy Courses: Motor Development and Motor Learning, Instructional Methods of Teaching Adapted Physical Education, Instructional Methods of Teaching Physical Education to Elementary Students, Instructional Method Teaching Physical Education to Secondary Students. Activity Courses: Dance and Dance Instruction, Individual and Team Sport Activity Courses.

- Staff / Administration Positions
DEPARTMENT
Business and Finance
GENERAL DESRIPTION
Under the direction of the Controller in the Office of Business & Finance, provides technical support for and ensures the efficient operation of the SunGard Banner Finance and Fixed Assets modules.
REQUIRED DUTIES
- Manage all end-user functions and activities associated with the Banner finance and fixed assets modules.
- Participate in the daily processing of financial data as well as planning and coordinating the month, quarter and year end close activities
- Oversight of data integrity and reconciliation of Banner finance reports to the general ledger. Review exception transactions and work to resolve these exceptions in a timely manner.
- Work with users to resolve problems associated with entries to the general ledger
- Creation and maintenance of rule and validation tables.
- Work closely with other departments to map new detail codes to the general ledger.
- Testing and implementing application changes and modifications.
- Extract data, develop and generate financial reports.
- Apply system knowledge to analyze and implement new/improved finance system features with emphasis on efficiency and process streamlining.
- Work with IT programming staff when necessary in the development of reports and implementation of systems solutions.
- Development of end user documentation and training
- Performs other related duties and provides finance support to all areas of the College as necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, information systems or emphasis in both. Four or more years experience working with ORACLE databases, SQL and SunGard Banner Finance. Proficiency in Microsoft excel and access is required. Strong communication and analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast paced environment are a must.

- Shuttle Bus Driver - Spring/Fall Semesters 2011

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Senior Facilities Administrator, the principal assignment of this position is to professionally transport the College's students, faculty and staff between Oakdale and Shirley, New York with required stops along the route. Driver may also be asked to drive for Dowling events. Driver is expected to adhere to all Dowling policies as well as New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and driving regulations. Backup in case of illness, vacations or special College events that need transportation.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Drive the vehicles of the College in a safe manner, obeying all traffic laws pertinent to the transportation of students and other passengers.
- Must be mature, responsible, punctual and reliable.
- Attend all training programs and other meetings as required unless specifically excused by College administration.
- Inspect and report to the College as required, the condition of the vehicle driven, including physical damage, maintenance conditions, and other issues pertinent to the efficient and safe operation of the vehicles.
- Report to College administration any new moving traffic violation recorded on license, regardless of whether it occurred on or off the job, within 10 days of its recording on the driver's license.
- Provide once per year, within two months prior to September 1, certification from a physician that the driver's health is satisfactory to continue driving for the College, and certification from an ophthalmologist or other eye care professional that the driver's vision is satisfactory to continue driving for the College.
- Be knowledgeable about and follow all College procedures and requirements concerning reporting of any accident involving a College vehicle.
- Report to the College any change in health, personal circumstances, or other condition that may adversely affect the employee's ability to satisfactorily perform these tasks as required.
- Driver should present a clean appearance and be able to handle himself/herself in a respectful manner with all students, faculty and staff in all situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must maintain a clean valid CDL-B New York State Driver License with Passenger Endorsement.

Dowling College's Annual Security Report
