Mel Pekarsky’s paintings and drawings present expansive perspectives of barren and desolate landscapes that often approach abstraction as they focus on the ground below rather than the sky above.

The Living Classroom: Lisa Hoke

Lisa Hoke makes vividly colored installation pieces that frequently use everyday materials such as rubber bands and drinking straws. This exhibition of her work represents an opportunity for Dowling’s Visual Arts students to collaborate with an artist-in-residence. The Living Classroom is a component of the course entitled Major Studio, which combines traditional art history and portfolio development with on-site learning.
