The Anthony Giordano Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of prints, by renowned artist Catherine Bebout. Ms. Bebout is an Associate Professor and Director of Printmaking at Montclair State University. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally with solo exhibitions in Shanghai, P.R. of China, Quebec, Canada, Auckland, and New Zealand. As a Senior Research Fulbright Scholar to India, her work is currently in a traveling exhibition at the Ruchika Art Gallery in Goa, with venues at the Prince of Wales Museum, Mumbai, and Lalit Kala Akademi in Chennai, India.

Bebout's most recent work explores how cartography is used throughout history to both inform and distort our perceptions of the world. Cartography, aside from its obvious significance to science, has been a valuable asset in the move towards globalization. Since its early inception, artography introduced the local community to foreign cultures around the globe and, as a result, became a powerful tool in the promotion of political agendas. Bebout's intent is to confront the viewer with the consequences of science, technology, exploration, and exploitation and to illustrate its impact on culture.
