Florence Neal: Surfacing

September 7 – October 16, 2005

Reception: September 25, 2005 1:00 to 4:00 pm
with a lecture by the artist at 2:00 pm

The Anthony Giordano Gallery at Dowling College presents Florence Neal: Surfacing. This exhibition will feature an installation by the artist which explores elements of drawing, printmaking and sculpture.

Florence Neal’s work often extends beyond the wall into a 3-dimensional space in the form of sculpture installations combining a variety of processes and materials. In site-specific installations she engages the surrounding architectural environment with the viewing public. Her forms center upon a resonant graphic iconography incorporating nature in contrasting and kinetic compositions. The images themselves expand into dimensions beyond their edges, connoting energetic, moving forms that shimmer between real and abstract space.
