Q & A by the artist at 2:00 pm

The Anthony Giordano Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of the work of visiting Korean multi-media installation artist Ahn Pilyun entitled Now Present at this Moment. Ms. Ahn’s formal training as a sculptor is the foundation for her work, which centers on concepts relating to her personal life as a woman in a patriarchal society. Ms. Ahn uses color, mirrors and light as an integral part of her installations. In Now Present at this Moment, she will use reflective, multi-faceted mirrors as a metaphor for her preoccupation with changing cultural views and her time spent in Oakdale. The installations created by Ahn Pilyun speak of her life as an artist, breaking with the traditional norms of the society from which she was born.

The Artist Project Series at The Anthony Giordano Gallery is the “Living Classroom” component of the course Contemporary Art, offered by the Visual Arts Department. This class combines traditional lectures in art history and visits to museums and galleries along with student apprenticeships or other forms of collaboration with an artist selected for a special exhibition held at the Gallery.
