• help you develop problem solving skills: through the use of diagrams, illustrations, and personal techniques that have proven to be successful.
• work with you in test preparation: summarizing and listing major concepts and formulas covered on exams and synthesizing additional problems into "sample tests."
• help you with note-taking: summarizing, reviewing, and editing class notes.
• discuss textbook readings to point out model problems, key terms, appropriate formulas, charts, and references provided by the author.
• help you understand how to use a calculator.

• work on take-home exams (or projects) without prior instructor approval.
• teach you material you might have missed or in which you need additional clarification.

• bring your class notes, course outline, textbook, and calculator (if necessary).
• come prepared with specific questions and assignments.
