You must have earned a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average. An appointment with a faculty advisor is mandatory before an acceptance decision can be made.

Dowling College accepts applications on a rolling basis. We recommend that you submit your
application by the following dates in order to receive timely consideration:
Fall semester: By December 1st
Spring semester: By November 1st
The fee to apply is $50. For conditions where the fee may be waived, please call 1.800.369.5464.
An official letter will be mailed via USPS within three weeks of the receipt of your application and all required documents.
Along with your acceptance package, you will receive instructions as to how and when you should submit your enrollment deposit and make an appointment with a graduate advisor.
Yes, student loans, grants, and scholarships are available. Additionally, friends of Dowling alumni may qualify for a one-time grant. Please see here for additional information on financial aid.
It depends on the program. Pre-requisite coursework is not built into our programs, so most of our programs are only 36 credits total.
Yes, there are graduate advisors in our Office of Enrollment Services. Faculty members are always readily available as well.
Yes, each individual school at the college determines which courses will transfer.
Yes, graduate students have the opportunity to live in apartment-style residence halls on the Rudolph-Oakdale and Brookhaven campuses. Please contact Lisa Braxton at 631.772.3636 for additional information.
No documents need to be sent by you if the college is recommending you for certification. However, if you are seeking additional areas of certification through New York State, it is your responsibility to send the documents that are necessary for the additional certifications.
Nine credits, or three, 3-credit courses.
More often than not, students who are already certified to teach before beginning a master’s degree do not have to student teach again. Since there are many different scenarios, due to the intricacies of certification all students who are pursuing graduate education degrees are encouraged to seek advisement.
