William J. Condon Xi Chi Chapter Kappa Delta Pi Recognition Award

The William J. Condon Xi Chi Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi Recognition Award is named after our beloved Dr. William J.Condon who served Dowling College for over 25 years as Vice President of Student Affairs.

The Dowling College Xi Chi Chapter recognition scholarship of $200 is presented annually to a Senior or first year M.S. in Education student who has demonstrated outstanding scholarly contributions and/or service to furthering the goals of Kappa Delta Pi.

Eligibility for this scholarship is limited to active members of the Xi Chi Chapter. Applicants must have 90 or more credits, 30 or more must have been completed at Dowling, with a cumulative scholastic average of 3.7 or higher. In addition, candidates must have completed scholarly publications and/or leadership in providing meaningful programs which address relevant educational issues. The non renewable award will be made during the Spring semester. Financial need is not a prerequisite.

Determination of the recipient shall be made by the Academic Standards Committee after receiving recommendation(s) from the Xi Chi Chapter faculty advisor. The officers of the Chapter and the faculty advisor serve as the screening committee.

Dr. Ralph and Guilia Honsberger Award

The Dr. Ralph and Guilia Honsberger Award was established in 2004, by a $10,000.00 bequest to Xi Chi Chapter and Dowling College. Each year, an award is presented at our annual induction to a deserving, active member of Xi Chi chapter who has made significant contributions to the ideals of Kappa Delta Pi.

Dr. Clyde I. Payne Award

The Dr. Clyde I. Payne Award for minority students is named for the Dean of Education and is awarded to a member of the chapter who is a minority member or teaches minority students and makes a contribution to further the ideals of Dr. Payne.
