Xi Chi Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, the international education honor society of Dowling College sponsors the following awards to graduate and undergraduate education students.

l. Dr. William J. Condon Xi Chi chapter of Kappa Delta Pi Recognition Award

Xi Chi Chapter award of $250 is presented annually to a graduate or undergraduate student who has demonstrated outstanding scholarship contributions and/or service to further the goals of Kappa Delta Pi. Eligibility for this scholarship is limited to active members of the Xi Chi chapter. Applicants must have 90 or more credits, 30 or more completed at Dowling, with a cumulative scholastic average of 3.8 or higher. The non renewable award is made during the spring semester. Financial need is not a prerequisite.

2. Dr.and Mrs. Ralph H. Honsberger Scholarship

Xi Chi Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi was the recipient of a $10,000 grant from the estate of Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Honsberger and a scholarship was established in their names. The grant is established with the Dowling College Endowment Fund, and $250 from the fund is annually awarded to a member of the Xi Chi chapter at the undergraduate or graduate level. The grantee must use the funds to help the children he/she is teaching.

3. Dr. Clyde I. Payne Minority Award

The Dr. Clyde I. Payne Minority Award is named for the Dean of Education to help and encourage Kappa Delta Pi members who teach minority students. Dr. Payne and Ms. Lizette Washington select the recipient of the award which is presented annually at the induction ceremony. The $250 award is to be used with the minority students taught by the recipient.

4. Dr. Bernadyn Kim Suh Award

The Dr. Bernadyn Kim Suh Award is named for the counselor who established Xi Chi Chapter at Dowling in 1979 and has served Kappa Delta Pi and the Dowling College Education students for over 35 years. Members of Xi Chi chapter who have served the "KDP ideals of toil and service for the betterment of humanity" are considered for the award.
