Today, one of Dowling’s Doctoral Professors, Dr. Elsa-Sofia Morote is participating in a debate at 2013 Briarcliffe College Immigration Law Forum. This event, co-sponsored by the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association, will take place at the Briarcliffe College, Bethpage Campus on from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
In the aftermath of the 2012 Presidential Election, Immigration Reform has once again become a hot-button political issue at the national level. Both Briarcliffe and the LIHBA believe that the issue is of great importance to all citizens and efforts should be made at the local level to raise awareness about the importance and possible consequences of comprehensive immigration reform.
The event shall provide a forum for our esteemed panel of speakers to present various perspectives on the issue, including discussing the two fundamental questions that underlie the debate: why is immigration reform necessary, and what should it consist of?
